Great Estates Preservation

The Guilded Age cottages of Lee, Lenox, Stockbridge and Pittsfield are historical and cultural treasures. This is a project to help preserve them and, in some instances, highlight them as tourist attractions.

Mount Greylock Scenic Byway

The trip up and over Mount Greylock is often described in terms of enjoyment for its scenic and environmental qualities. Click here for a summary of the corridor management plan that gathered data and recommended actions to preserve and enhance its best loved qualities. BRPC has received funding for three implementation projects. These are basically to:

  1. Design and install directional and interpretive signs along the Byway without creating sign clutter
  2. Develop a tourist brochure about the unique qualities of the Byway
  3. Improve trailhead parking and hiker safety along the Byway

1982 Regional Energy Plan

Created largely in response to rising energy costs, the Regional Energy Plan examined the economic and environmental benefits of energy conservation. Although over twenty years old, many of the Plans observations and recommendations are still valid today.
