BRPC Internship Openings SUMMER 2008 INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY Transportation Planning Internship Description: Performs traffic counts using automatic traffic recording equipment and manual turning movement counts; performs assessment of roadway surface conditions using pavement management system software; performs other field observations, including safety factors at intersections and other points of access to area roadways, and public transportation boarding counts; enters and tabulates data collected in field; performs planning project analytical tasks as needed; assists with printing and mailing of publications; performs other tasks as needed in accordance with skill level. Eligibility: Students or recent graduates from bachelor’s or graduate degree programs; Academic major or strong interest in urban and regional planning, traffic or civil engineering, public policy or related field preferred. Must have valid driver’s license. Own car preferred but not required. AA/EOE. Additional Information: Pay rate is $10 per hour for undergraduate students and those with an undergraduate degree; $11 per hour for graduate students beginning, or with limited time in a graduate program, and $12 per hour for students who are advanced in (at least one year), or have finished a graduate program. No benefits provided. Position is full-time, not to exceed 35 hours per week. Term is flexible, but generally runs from mid-May through August. Some field work may require availability early weekend mornings. Two internships are available. Interns not already residing in the area must find their own housing. These are open to under-graduates, recent graduates or those re-entering the work force. Candidates must commit to a fixed number of hours per week (typically a minimum of 10 hours per week) over a fixed period (typically a minimum of 10 weeks.)
