BRPC Planning Associates

From time to time, BRPC has a need for planning related services depending on current grants and projects, technical assistance requests, and overall agency work load. We maintain a list of interested parties who might serve as Planning Associates, in the following topic areas:

  • Environmental Planning
  • Land Use Planning (including zoning bylaw assessment, topic specific zoning bylaw development, such as commercial zoning, industrial zoning, open space/land protection zoning, and resource protection,)
  • GIS applications (ArcInfo/ArcView)
  • Economic Planning (including economic impact analysis, capital improvement planning and fiscal impact analysis)
  • Public Administration
  • Housing
  • Civil Engineering
  • Comprehensive Planning
  • Landscape Architecture
  • Transportation Planning
  • Graphic Design
  • Grant Writing

Planning Associates may be called on to provide as needed, short-term, project specific services with compensation generally based on an hourly rate and specific deliverables clearly identified. Planning Associates would possess demonstrated skill, expertise, and experience in their topic area(s,) possess demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills, and excellent analytic skills, and have project management and coordination experience. Specific background working in Massachusetts, especially for regional planning agencies, or municipalities, is desirable. This is a non-benefited, non-permanent opportunity.

To be considered for the 2007 calendar year, material must be submitted no later than February 16, 2007. Planning Associates currently on the list should contact the BRPC to confirm that they are still interested in remaining on the list. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume and/or list of qualifications to jmcguire@berkshireplanning.org or mail to: Nathaniel W. Karns, AICP, Executive Director, Berkshire Regional Planning Commission, 1 Fenn St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. In your letter, please indicate the topic areas in which you have expertise and experience and your compensation requirements. Following initial screening of material, selected candidates may be invited for a personal interview to further describe their level of experience and interested topic areas.
