Public Health Planner

The Public Health program seeks one or more public health planners to contribute to a broad scope of dynamic and complex public health programs for the Berkshire region. These positions will provide staff support for the planning and implementation of a range of significant public health projects, that may include:

  • Equity and Wellness Planning
  • Community Health Improvement Planning
  • Public Health Emergency Planning and Response

In addition to assisting with planning and implementation activities, the planners will work with other staff to support community outreach and engagement, grant writing, meeting support, updating and maintaining contact and training lists, and updating social media accounts and websites.

The successful candidate is a highly engaged and creative problem solver, familiar with a variety of current issues in public health, especially related to the social determinants of health, and should demonstrate an understanding of public health planning and implementation, be familiar with public health and health research and adaptation of recommendations at the community level and possess effective communication and writing skills. The candidate must also have familiarity working within the Microsoft Office platform.

Minimum requirements: Master’s degree in Public Health, Community Health, Planning, or a closely related field. Six years’ relevant experience may be substituted instead of a Master’s. Experience in implementing public health initiatives at the local community health level, equity and wellness, or emergency planning is a plus. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license and access to a private vehicle.

The starting salary range is $49,894-$56,475 with a very attractive benefits package. The minimum workweek is 35 hours with flex time available. Currently, employees must work in BRPC’s Pittsfield, Massachusetts office two days per week. Telework is permitted at other times.
