PITTSFIELD — Alongside celebrating the 60th anniversary of its founding, the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission has another goal for the new year — to name a new executive director.
After Executive Director Thomas Matuszko announced plans to retire in the fall, the commission began advertising for the position in early December. The application will remain open until a candidate is finalized, a process the commission aims to finish by the end of March.
Notably, the role isn’t only being advertised locally; Matuszko said that it is being promoted “extensively” on a nationwide level.
“One of the criteria that we’re weighing pretty heavily is experience with a regional organization such as ours,” Matuszko said of the search. And, if the candidate is from outside the Berkshires, “getting to know the region will take some time.”
