State Sen. Mark secures $2.3 million for western Massachusetts

Boston — State Sen. Paul Mark (D – Berkshire, Hampden, Franklin, and Hampshire District) announced today that Gov. Maura Healey has signed the Fiscal Year 2027 General Appropriations Act without vetoing any of the local investments that were secured, ensuring that more than $2.325 million in funding will be delivered to communities and organizations throughout the Berkshires and western Massachusetts during the coming fiscal year.

The funding, secured through both the FY27 State Budget and the Fair Share Supplemental Budget, supports projects and organizations focused on behavioral health, education, transportation, public safety, childcare, workforce development, municipal infrastructure, arts and culture, and community services.

“Today, these investments start to become reality,” said Sen. Mark. “These aren’t just line items in a budget anymore—they’re real dollars that will be in the hands of schools, municipalities, nonprofits, first responders, and community organizations this fiscal year. Every one of these investments began with a conversation in one of our communities about a need or an opportunity, and I’m glad that we’ve been able to deliver meaningful state support that will make a lasting difference across western Massachusetts.”
