North Adams, MA -“Hi, we’re here with Berkshire Overdose and Addiction Prevention Collaboration handing out Narcan and showing people how to use it, so you can have it on hand in case you ever see someone overdosing. Would you like some Narcan?”That’s the opening spiel Kimber King has settled on after knocking on two dozen doors in the North Adams Housing Authority. It’s a good hook — she’s crammed in all the necessary information, but it’s not too overwhelming for residents to process when they open their door to three strangers with backpacks full of informational flyers and Narcan, a delivery device for the overdose-reversing drug naloxone.
