Digital Navigator Internship – Spring or Summer 2026
16-35 hours per week, flexible, minimum 2.5 months [Hybrid]
General Description
This role will assist low-income residents in Great Barrington, Lee, Becket, and/or Washington (flexible) in securing free computer devices through Computers4People and gain digital skills through online curricula from Senior Planet and Northstar. This effort will help close the digital divide in Berkshire County and increase residents’ aptitude with technology.
Responsibilities
- Register low-income residents for free computers with Computers4People and write brief letters of recommendation for them.
- Provide low-income residents with BRPC’s Digital Resource Guide and educate them about the opportunities it describes.
- Introduce low-income residents to two self-directed online learning opportunities: Senior Planet and NorthStar.
Minimum Qualifications
- Interest in assisting low-income residents with digital skill building and resources.
- Interest in digital skills-building and technology.
- Ability to communicate with diverse residents, regardless of ability.
- Willingness to travel and do outreach, education, and information-sharing.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with community service.
- Experience with teaching and outreach.
Compensation
This is an unpaid internship, with mileage reimbursement available for fieldwork travel within Berkshire County. We are happy to work with your academic institution to provide course credit or other financial support.
